How To Punch. How To Jab, Cross, Hook, Uppercut.
JAB
The jab is thrown with your lead hand. Begin with slightly bending your knees,let your feet stagger,keep chin down, and your hands raised by the sides of your face (always remember start position is from this basic fighting position before throwing any punch). Push your weight off your back foot off your back foot and snap the jab out quite quickly. The lead foot will slide forward a small percent before making impact impact. For full maximum potential power, twist your arm in a corkscrew motion before landing that soliud punch on your opponents face.
CROSS
Also referred to as the "straight right hand" (if you're right-handed that is !), it starts from your face and follows an imaginary straight arrow line directly into the targets face. Drive turn and pivot from the rear foot position, rotating the hips with force as your body weight shifts toward the front of your foot. Extend your right arm toward the target, snapping your wrist in a downward motion. On impact, the palm is down and the knuckles up. Great Hit!
HOOK
Shift your weight toward the rear leg as you rotate with force to the side and pivot inward on the inner ball of your front foot. Simultaneously, whip the leadng arm toward the targets face or zone of interest in an L shape. Your elbow should be bent at a 90 degree angle when striking. Use your hips and turn into the punch. You can angle your hand in one of two ways: vertically, so your palm faces you on impact, or horizontally, so the palm faces the floor. Your decision fully.
UPPERCUT
Slightly maneouver your weight to the hip on the side of your rear leg. Dip that side's shoulder down as your crouching a bit. secondly, with the palm upwards and the arm bent at a 90 degree angle, with force rotate toward the side of your leading leg and push off the ball of your back foot, driving the punch upward. Aim for the sweetspot on your opponents face, the chin. On impact, your palm should face your chest. Knockout !
