For MMA gambling purists there isn't anything more distressing than the upcoming UFC 116 gambling Main Event at the online sportsbook showcasing former WWE champ "and current UFC gambling champion- Brock Lesnar.
The fact is that Lesnar comes from a background of pretend fighting in the WWE, and that's distasteful for a lot of MMA gambling fans to digest. Many sports gambling fans see Lesnar as a force to delegitimize the UFC gambling tournament after a lot of superb fighters have worked so hard to make the UFC the king of MMA gambling.
But beyond the questions of legitimacy of the sport, a lot of MMA fighting fans basically want to know whether this guy is the real deal or not. In fact, thus far in the UFC gambling, Lesnar has had a pretty unorthodox career. He only has 5 career UFC gambling competitions under his belt (the UFC 116 probabilities tournament will be his sixth) and yet he's currently wearing the UFC gambling heavy weight belt.
Some MMA gambling fans see Lesnar's championship as reward for his celebrity as much as it is for his ability as a fighter, compared to former superb winners in the heavyweight division. But these skeptics will get to find out soon enough for themselves when Lesnar climbs into the Octagon for his UFC 116 gambling contest against Shane Carwin. Carwin is a bit more experienced and no one doubts his abilities as a fighter with his perfect 12-0 UFC gambling track record to back him up.
On the other hand, Lesnar doesn't have nearly as extraordinary a UFC gambling track record having lost one of these 5 previous matches. But he's also beaten some big UFC gambling names like Randy Couture and Frank Mir. Lesnar's largest test yet and a superb opportunity for him to prove himself to all the MMA gambling fans will be this UFC 116 gambling contest.
The UFC 116 gambling event will also be a big litmus test for the UFC on the whole. This MMA organization has come under scrutiny of late for pursuing major name flops in order to enhance rating, namely Kimbo Slice. Plenty of MMA gambling fans see Lesnar as basically another Slice and so the UFC 116 gambling action will be the ideal moment for Lesnar to prove these naysayers right or shut them up for good.
Lesnar won his 1st UFC fight in June 2007. He registered with the UFC in October 2007. He made his debut in UFC 81 versus the UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir. Lesnar was subtracted a point for hitting Mir on the back of the head after getting an early takedown. Mir managed to force Lesnar into a submission at 1:30 of the 1st round. He's had some dubious bouts since then, though no further losses.
This fight was initially intended to take place last year during UFC 106. Nonetheless Lesnar was withdrawn from the fight after having been sick for weeks prior to it. He said at the time that he had never been so unwell in his life and it would take him some time to recover. July 3rd's UFC 116 is when that fight was rescheduled for.
