Shane Carwin is an imposing individual and there are few individuals who would have the guts to enter the Octagon with him in the impending UFC 116 wagering contest at the sportsbook.
The man to face off with Carwin in the impending UFC 116 probabilities Main Event will be Brock Lesnar, another huge and scary individual. MMA wagering supporters and several UFC 116 odds makers are split as to who will succeed in this bout between these two great contenders.
Carwin has more expertise in MMA wagering than Lesnar and several individuals point to his perfect 12-0 track record in MMA gambling contest as cause to believe that he will also be victorious in the UFC 116 wagering contest also. Not only is his total track record a lot better than Lesnar's (4-1) but it's also much more substantial and that experience will be important in the UFC 116 gambling competition.
But there are a few questions relating to a closer examination of Carwin's track record, too. No one questions that Carwin is a great MMA fighter, but if you look over his UFC gambling track record there aren't a whole lot of big names on his list of beaten competitors.
Frank Mir is probably the biggest name and most gifted UFC wagering fighter that Carwin has fought before. It was also his most recent bout. There were lots of UFC gambling supporters that thought Mir would get the better of Carwin going into that bout. Needless to say, Carwin won by knocking Mir out.
But there is hardly a recognizable name among all of Carwin's defeated foes, if you look down the remainder of them in the run up to the UFC 116 probabilities Main Event. Neil Wain? Gabriel Gonzga? Christian Wellisch? These competitors are hardly UFC gambling winners and nowhere close to the same level as Lesnar.
Lesnar, for his part has only a pretty brief body of MMA wagering work going into the UFC 116 wagering competition. But wins over former winners Randy Couture and Mir are included in that short resume.
Carwin also has a history before the UFC. He began his career as a professional wrestler. He wrestled in college and became a two-time NCAA Division II Wrestling National Runner-Up Heavyweight. In 1999 he was the National Champion. In addition he played football for Western State and as a two-time All-American. Even today he's at the University of Colorado as a volunteer wrestling coach.
In mixed martial arts, before joining the UFC, Carwin won his 1st eight matches by 1st round stoppage. He became the Ring of Fire heavyweight champion. His UFC debut was on the undercard of UFC 84, where he fought versus Christian Wellisch. The bout itself was fairly extraordinary though Wellisch isn't exactly well known now. Carwin showed his punching strength by not only TKOinghim at 44 seconds in the 1st round, he also sent Wellisch's mouthpiece hurtling across the Octagon.
Fans shouldn't take either of these fighters' incomplete records too seriously, though it's difficult to say who will win the upcoming UFC 116 gambling event.
