Few will argue that mixed martial arts fighters are a tough lot. They undergo long periods of intense training, push their chiseled bodies into peak conditioning, and rely heavily on their training partners and teams to help bring out the best in them. Fans of UFC matches bore witness to yet another spectacularly intense light-heavyweight bout during UFC 75, but the result was marred with controversy and debate as British MMA fighter Michael Bisping snagged a split decision triumph against Matt Hamill. From the subsequent buzz and questions that the outcome generated, an understandably outraged and irked Bisping demanded a rematch battle, simply to silence loudmouthed critics and prove that the British titan had truly earned his win.
In a previous report, it was stated that there has been a largely negative response to Bisping's victory, which was scored by two out of three judges at UFC 75 as 29-28 in favor of Bisping. On the other hand, various media outlets insisted that the score should have been 30-27 in favor of Hamill instead. As disgusted as he was with the critics, Bisping vocalized his angered sentiments during an interview with The Sun, hitting back at them and claiming he was ready and willing anytime to prove he deserved the win.
Bisping has stated that he disagrees completely with others' opinions that Hamill should have been judged the victor instead of him. He said that he got the decision fairly, having gone through the match and earning his points. Bisping angrily pointed out that he did not back down nor was he easily knocked out in less than a minute, and that his critics needed to realize that and quit trash-talking about him. Bisping also added that the critics were focusing largely on the perceived negative aspects of the fight, without conceding that it had its positive points for the level of excitement it generated.
