England is known for a lot of things, but it is not a lot of an exporter of anything well known aside from the Beatles and Harry Potter. But they might just be able to add MMA competitors to that list and throughout the UFC 120 odds Main Event, there will be lots of English fighting expertise on display.
All right, so maybe England doesn't really stack up to other countries like Brazil or the US with regards to producing MMA victors, but there are in fact quite numerous English competitors in MMA and the number grows every year. And when the UFC 120 gambling action gets moving at the O2 Arena in London next month, supporters will get a chance to see a full list of 9 English competitors play in the UFC 120 odds action. There's even one rare fight that's going to be an all-English occasion with James McSweeney seeking to wipe out countryman Tom Blackledge in their UFC 120 odds Preliminary Card match.
But the highlight of the schedule, and the main reason why the supporters will be loading the seats for the UFC 120 odds action, is Michael Gavin Joseph Bisbing. Known as a good but not fantastic contender in the UFC, this person is one of the most popular people in the UK.
And he's a pretty good, if underappreciated, contender also. At 31 years old, however, it appears as though his fighting prowess might have peaked. He has got a career record of 19-3 but has hit a tough patch of late, losing 2 of his past 4 games versus good, but not fantastic, competition (Wanderlei Silva and San Henderson).
Bisping is a former Cage Warriors Fighting Championship light heavyweight champion, and a former Cage Rage light heavyweight champion. His pro work got its start in April 2004, when he fought to win versus Steve Mathews at Pride & Glory 2: Battle of the Ages. His next match a month later resulted in a knockout win over John Weir. His 3rd match concluded in a technical knockout versus Mark Epstein. After he effectively defended his light heavyweight champion title in a rematch with Epstein, he netted the nickname "The Great British Hope" from UFC.com.
He transferred to middleweight in 2008, about midway through his career thus far at the UFC and right following he recorded his 1st loss. That loss was to Rashad Evans by means of split decision. After that, he decided to lower down a weight division following being advised that he was a little bit small to be a light heavyweight.
And now versus UFC 120 odds beginner Yoshihiro Akiyama, he is all but certain to win his fight in London.
Akiyama is a veteran MMA contender and martial artist, but he's got just 2 UFC fights under his belt and at 1-1 he has not impressed. He's a world-class Judo master but that has not translated into UFC success. And following climbing into the Octagon with Bisbing, in front of a rabid English crowd, he will exit the UFC 120 odds action with a 1-2 record.
