One year after UFC 2009 was released, the much hoped-for UFC Undisputed 2010 is taking the the human race by storm. With improvements added to the newer version, the fans requests were answered by the games' developers.
UFC Undisputed 2010 is an inspiring showcase of THQ's ability for improving on their franchise. This game is much faster than the last one. When you are fighting and locked into a prone and mid-hold position, your guy is breathing hard and staining to break free. Trying to break out of a hold shows the bulging of the arm muscles quite unmistakably. The transition take-downs are more extensive and marked.
, In this edition of UFC Undisputed you can change to the southpaw stance if you click in on the right joystick, the fight animations have been quadrupled, the clinch has been reanimated, the number of front submissions have been doubled, there's a new targeting system, and there are individual submissions like B.J. The Arm Trap Fighters can easily change fighting styles from Sambo to karate, Greco-Roman to your own self created styles.
Speaking of created fighter, Undisputed 2010 is going to pack more than 100 fighters, and none of them will be made from the creation mode like fifty percent of last year's roster. The athletes look very photo-realistic giving the gamer an genuine experience of being in a fight without having to take any real punches.
The only downside to this game is if you are a button masher, then you'll probably get frustrated trying to get your fighter to make the right moves. The controls are very precise and there is a bunch of combination moves that take a while to learn. Aimlessly mashing buttons will not get the results you are looking for and your fighter will get creamed before you can react but, if you take the time to learn the combos, you'll find the transitions to be smooth and effective.
One other tip is to resist the temptation to skip the Career Mode. The first time I played I skipped that part in my excitement to get started, only to discover that the background story in Career Mode plays an important role in the development of the game later on. How your fighter comes up in the ranks effects your reputation with the media and your fans as the game unfolds and if you rushed past the Career Mode your reputation suffers.
I am sure that this game will be one of the top selling games of 2010. With all the added features, this game may have the potential to be one of the greatest fighting games ever made.
